Parents and guardians who create accounts (Account Holders) and children whose profiles they create (Child Profiles). Children under 13 may not create their own accounts. You must be 18+ and a parent or legal guardian of any child profile you create.
Account info: email, encrypted password, billing via Stripe (no card numbers stored), notification preferences.
Child profile info: first name, age/DOB, personality traits, favourite themes, friends/pets/siblings names (optional), values to emphasise (optional), story companion (optional).
Usage info: stories generated, feedback, streaks, reading history, app usage.
Technical: device, browser, IP address, session data.
Generate personalised stories via OpenAI's API; improve story quality from feedback; send bedtime reminder notifications (with permission); send weekly parent summary emails (if opted in); process subscription payments; send gift and milestone communications; maintain streaks and reading history; comply with legal obligations.
We never use child data for advertising or third-party marketing.
OpenAI (story generation - openai.com/privacy), Stripe (billing - stripe.com/privacy), Supabase (database and auth - supabase.com/privacy), Resend (email delivery - resend.com/privacy).
We do not sell your data or share with advertisers. We never share your child's name, traits, or story content commercially. We may disclose if required by Australian law.
Compliance with COPPA: Storiesprout is designed for use by parents and guardians on behalf of their children. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All accounts are created and managed by parents or legal guardians. Child profile information is provided by the parent and used solely to personalise story content. We do not share children's information with third parties for marketing. We do not condition participation on disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary. Parents may review, update, or request deletion of their child's profile at any time by emailing hello@storiesprout.com. If you close your account, all child profile data will be deleted within 30 days. For questions about children's data, contact hello@storiesprout.com.
Stored securely via Supabase with encryption at rest and in transit. Servers may be located outside Australia including in the United States. By using our service, you consent to this.
Retained while your account is active. On account deletion, personal data and child profiles deleted within 30 days (except where legally required). Stories retained until you delete them or your account.
Under Australian Privacy Act 1988: access, correct, request deletion of your data, opt out of marketing emails.
EU/UK users (GDPR): additionally data portability and right to complain to your local data protection authority.
US users with children under 13: we comply with COPPA.
